Minutes

Web site spam

  • DN to install a CAPTCHA on the web site.
  • RG suggested reCAPTCHA which helps digitise out-of-copyright books.

Cloning old web site content

  • DN to put up a read-only copy of the old site so that the content can be copied manually.

Logo

  • It was agreed the submitted logos are not sufficiently high quality.
  • DN to pay for a logo for PHP London and for the conference.

Venue

  • The Theodore Bullfrog was generally well received with some problems.
  • It was agreed we will continue to try different pubs each month.
  • DN to pick a pub for the next month's meeting.

Job offers

  • It was agreed anyone who has signed up to the mailing list should be allowed to post jobs for their own company free of charge.
  • RG to forward job postings send to the mailing list but blocked to MR.

Financial

  • AL to share financial access details with MR and DT.
  • AL to provide all exec members with Bytemark account details.

General

  • It was agreed responses on the exec mailing list should be received within 48 hours.

Conference update

  • 29 February 2008 was set as a proposed date.
  • PM proposed his favourite venue so far, Inmarsat, outside Old Street station and available for up to 300 people.
  • PM made an initial estimate of £5,000 for video recording and editing.
  • PM's overall estimate of cost is £15,000-£18,000.
  • PM to provide an approximate breakdown of costs.
  • We are looking at a ticket price of between £75 and £100.
  • PM plans to use Eventwax for conference bookings, which will support the simultaneous purchase of multiple tickets.
  • Sponsorship payments should be higher than last year.
  • PM to contact last year's sponsors as well as Oracle, IBM, Yahoo!, Google, and Allegis Group.
  • MR to sell sponsorship to recruitment agencies who contact him.
  • We can host the networking event at the same location.
  • A wired line will be provided for speakers in addition to a wireless network for delegates.
  • Online feedback was discussed but we will continue to use a paper feedback form.
  • PM to take responsibility for the conference web site and migrating the old content.
  • RG to forward conference email to PM.
  • RG to set up an email account for a conference call for papers.
  • PM proposed a format with one keynote in the main room, then talks in the main room with breakout talks for 50-80 people in other rooms.
  • DT was concerned PM had underestimated the amount of work required and not enough other people are involved.
  • PM to determine what roles are necessary for conference organisation and recruit members.
  • The exec to send suggestions of required roles for conference organisation to PM.
  • MB reports he expects the videos from last year to be complete this month.
