Company: Webgains

Position: PHP Developer

About us

Founded in 2004, Webgains is a leading European affiliate marketing network with offices in the UK, US, Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands. We are the fastest growing affiliate network in Europe, delivering around 200m ads and processing £6m worth of transactions every month.

We employ clever, passionate, committed people and have created a working environment which is dedicated to doing the best possible, whatever the task. Our company is founded on the concepts of delivering both outstanding customer service and cutting edge, pragmatic technology.

About the role

You will be maintaining our high-performance ad delivery, high-availability visitor tracking and real time reporting systems, as well as being involved in the design and build of new features and systems. You will be expected to produce well documented and easy-to-maintain code that is both testable and reliable. Your time will be split between improving existing functionality and building new features.

Our systems run across multiple machines in two data centres, running the LAMP stack with Redhat and Debian linux, Apache and PHP with MySQL databases. We use Subversion integrated with Trac and have some functional and unit test coverage using PHPUnit. You will be joining our small, agile, cross-functional team of 5, at our office in Covent Garden, London.

About you

  • You have plenty of recent commercial experience working with object-oriented PHP and preferably MySQL too. You're happy using an MVC framework and you want to participate in best practices like unit testing, source control, and continuous integration.
  • You enjoy working with others and communicate clearly. You participate well in a team but are also able to organise and prioritise your own work with little supervision, always taking responsibility and pride in your work.
  • You're looking for a permanent position with a rapidly expanding, successful business, where you can demonstrate the full range of your ability as well as learn new things.
  • You probably hold recognised computing qualifications, and you might have contributed to Open Source projects.
  • You love to delight users, providing them with the best possible technology, service and experience.
